Strong Foundations: the role of your feet in movement and performance

Your feet are the foundation of every movement you make—whether you're walking, running, lifting, or performing dynamic exercises like kettlebell swings, lunges, and step-ups. In this 90-minute workshop with Adarian Barr and Jenn Pilotti, you'll discover how the feet play a critical role in movement efficiency, balance, and power generation.

We'll dive into the biomechanics of foot function during walking, running, and various strength movements, highlighting how the feet absorb and distribute force to set the stage for efficient, pain-free movement. You'll learn about the role of the calcaneus (heel bone) in directing pressure within the foot and how it influences leg alignment and movement patterns.

We’ll also explore the powerful connection between the feet and the pelvic floor, showing how these two regions work together to generate explosive strength during activities like running, jumping, and lifting. By understanding this vital relationship, you'll enhance your performance and reduce injury risk.

This workshop is ideal for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and movement professionals looking to deepen their understanding of foot mechanics and its role in full-body strength and movement. Expect hands-on exercises, practical tips, and a deeper awareness of how your feet can unlock greater movement potential.

Key Takeaways:

  • The biomechanics of the feet in walking, running, and key strength movements (kettlebell swings, lunges, step-ups)

  • How the calcaneus (heel) directs pressure and sets up the legs for smooth, efficient movement

  • The vital connection between foot mechanics and the pelvic floor in generating power for running, jumping, and lifting

  • Practical drills and exercises to strengthen your feet and improve movement efficiency

Whether you're an athlete, coach, or simply looking to move better, this workshop will equip you with the tools and knowledge to take your performance to the next level, starting from the ground up.

Hands On: Exploring the Role of the Hands in Human Movement 3-Hour Outdoor Clinic

Join Adarian Barr and Jenn Pilotti for a dynamic, hands-on (literally) workshop that rethinks the role of the hands in movement. In this three-hour outdoor clinic, we’ll explore how the hands influence and enhance full-body actions like running, jumping, and throwing.

Through practical applications and guided exploration, you’ll learn how the hands can be used to create and release pressure, improve timing and sequencing, and support better coordination. Whether you’re a coach, clinician, or mover of any kind, you’ll leave with new tools and insights to apply immediately in your own practice or with those you work with.

This workshop invites curiosity, encourages play, and opens up a new conversation about how the body moves—from the hands down.

Rotations in Agreement: Rethinking Movement, Coordination, and Performance

What if the problem isn’t dysfunction—what if it’s disagreement?

In this 75-minute online workshop, we challenge the traditional view of “dysfunctional” movement. Instead of focusing on what’s wrong, we explore what’s possible when we shift our attention to the rotational nature of human movement.

Movement is rotation. A series of rotations—global and local—come together to produce coordinated, efficient, and effective motion. When these rotations are in agreement, movement feels smooth, powerful, and connected. When they aren’t, we experience friction, disconnection, or inefficiency—not dysfunction.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:
🔁 Identify global vs. local rotations in the body
⚖️ Determine whether rotations are in agreement or conflict
🔍 Shift from a dysfunction-first mindset to a possibility-first perspective
🏃‍♂️ Apply these concepts to common patterns like running, throwing, and kicking

Whether you’re a coach, clinician, athlete, or curious mover, this session will expand your understanding of coordination and help you see movement through a new lens—one grounded in rhythm, rotation, and agreement.

Join us and reframe what you think you know about movement.

*The recording will be available for 72 hours after the webinar.

**Time is in PDT.

Influencing Biomechanics--the Las Vegas Summit

Rethinking Biomechanics Movement Summit

“In January 2024, I attended the Rethinking Biomechanics Summit and left inspired and empowered enough that I followed Adarian, Jenn and Dawn to the Netherlands for more training. I am running (sprinting) and squatting now. Two activities I thought I would never ever tolerate again. If you are the curious type or suspect current conventional approaches are less effective than they should be, take a gamble on the Vegas Summit. No matter where you are in your sport or your coaching career, you’ll learn something useful that you won’t get anywhere else. I’m going again. See you there!”~Colleen Gray

Exploring Human Asymmetry - Understanding Our Natural Imbalances

Join us for an eye-opening livestream workshop on human asymmetry, where we dive into the fascinating ways our bodies are designed to work differently on each side. This workshop will introduce the principles of asymmetry in human biology, covering everything from how our right and left eyes and ears function uniquely, to why we favor certain hands for specific tasks.

Throughout the session, we’ll discuss the science behind these asymmetrical patterns and why they matter in daily movements like walking and running. You’ll discover how the body’s "up leg" and "down leg" engage differently, creating a balanced stride even within inherent imbalances.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the reasons behind asymmetrical functions in our eyes, ears, and limbs.

  • Explore how and why we develop a dominant side for actions like throwing or catching.

  • Learn about the mechanics of walking and running through the lens of asymmetry, focusing on leg engagement and gait patterns.

This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in human biology, movement, or simply curious about why we’re not perfectly symmetrical. Whether you’re an athlete, a trainer, or a curious mind, gain insights into the fascinating design of the human body!

*Recording will not be available if you can’t attend live.
